Oleksandr Gamayun

Dr Oleksandr Gamayun is an Arnold Fellow at the London Institute. He studied physics at National Technical University of Ukraine in Kyiv, where he obtained a masters in condensed matter and materials physics. He did his PhD at Bogolyubov Institute for Theoretical Physics, under the supervision of Valery Gusynin. His thesis focused on electron-electron interaction and gap generation in graphene. He then held research positions at Lancaster University, Leiden University, the University of Amsterdam and, most recently, the University of Warsaw. His research centres around applications of quantum field theory and mathematical physics to problems in condensed matter theory. Outside research, Dr Gamayun likes bouldering, hiking, and playing football.

Dr Gamayun works on condensed matter theory. In particular, he is interested in the dynamics of quantum many-body systems in low dimensions.
