Luciano Pietronero
Prof. Luciano Pietronero is a Fellow of the London Institute and professor of physics at the University of Rome, Sapienza. Prof Pietronero studied physics in Rome and was a research scientist at Xerox Webster and Brown Boveri. He then moved to Groningen in the Netherlands, where he was professor in condensed matter theory. In 2004 he founded the Institute for Complex Systems at Sapienza and was director for 10 years. Prof Pietronero was chairman of StatPhys 23 and won the Fermi Prize, the highest award of the Italian Physical Society. His current research interests are in applying quantitative concepts from physics to economic complexity, finance and risk.
