Governor

1 Aug 2024

The London Institute is recruiting a new Governor to raise money, support our start-ups, and accelerate our mission to get discovery done.

Job

The London Institute is Britain's first independent institute in physics, mathematics and the foundations of AI. Although non-profit, it operates with the agility and vision of a tech start-up. Our Governors are pioneers with experience of first-of-their-kind enterprises. They steer our strategy, support our start-ups, bring their energy to our events, and make an annual donation to accelerate our mission to get discovery done. A Governor is free from the administrative duties of a Trustee. Their tenure lasts three years.

Candidate

Our Governors are trail-blazers. They are outstanding achievers from business, politics, science and the arts. As serial innovators, they have personal experience of the windfalls and pitfalls of doing things that have never been done before, and an instinctive sympathy with a research centre that is aiming to break the mould.

Activities

❧ Make an annual donation and help us raise money. ❧ Bring energy to our events. ❧ Raise awareness of the London Institute outside of the scientific community. ❧ Advise the Institute on strategy as it grows. ❧ Develop our startups incubated by LIMS Ventures. ❧ Advocate on behalf of the Institute to businesses and government. ❧ Introduce us to talent from around the world.

London Institute

The London Institute for Mathematical Sciences is a new kind of research organisation that is dedicated to speeding up discovery. Our focus on peak performance and full-time research, and the level of support we offer our scientists, empower them to make the biggest breakthroughs. ❧ The Institute is based inside the Royal Institution in Mayfair, which lays claim to 15 Nobel prizes and the discovery of 10 chemical elements and the principles of electromagnetism. ❧ You can learn more about the London Institute at our About, Values and Opinions pages.
